| Christmas Stirfry... |

Sick as I feel, I wanted to do something special for Kat... so I made Christmas Stir Fry. Here's kind of what I did, if you want to try...
Cut up 3 New York Strip steaks, trim absolutely ALL the fat off... marinate them in Teriyaki sauce, and either add Lemon Juice now, or when you cook... the longer you have lemon on them, the more the tissue bonds break down, and flavor can seep in.
1 Bunch of Broccoli, 1/2 Cup Onion sliced thin, 1 Red Pepper. The broccoli is completely stemmed, and broken into small tops.. The Red Pepper cut into strips, then thirds.. to make small pieces. I added several spices.. Garlic, Rosemary, Basil, Oregano, one or two more... and then I put some Tiger Sauce on it. (A local hotsauce.)
Boil up a LOT of rice, I think I made 4-6 cups, it was a large pot. I put in Yellow and Green food coloring, to pretty it up for the season.
Cook the meat strips first, I added 2 "whumps" of butter, probably about 4-5 tablespoons. I added some more lemon juice, some teriyaki sauce, and let them simmer, stirring to brown.
When the meat was alllllmost done, I added the onion, to give them room to sautee and caramelize. When the onions started turning brown, I added in the other veggie mix.. and began to stir. At this point, the next room was filled with, "Oohs" "aahs" and "yumms" from the smell.
When everything looks and tastes ( *grin* ) done, pour it all into the rice, and mix it up... this is a filling dish, not rice with a topper.
It looks like Christmas, Tastes like Summer. Enjoy. |

I woke up almost an hour ago. Everything is blurry, and I am having trouble seeing. I can't read very well without straining. Should make work reallly interesting.

Working, and loving it. LOVING it.
Kat's brother Tom just called and asked me to work this weekend and next weekend, one night each. Another $100. I'll have to think about it.. now that I'm working a real job with a real schedule, weekends are a whole lot more important. |
